A professional journalist and creative broadcaster, his experience spans over three decades and his experience is broad and comprehensive in all types of journalistic work (broadcaster, editor, field correspondent, press and radio report preparer and content creator, in addition to his ability to formulate and write investigative reports, conduct dialogues, interviews and surveys, and present news bulletins, segments and various radio programs).
His colleague Abdel-Qawi Shaalan’s journalistic experience began in the mid-1980s with modest contributions to the Al-Jumhuriya newspaper, “Our readers write” page. Over the years, his skills in writing various articles have developed. He began training in editing news and other journalistic materials until he made great progress in this field during the early years of the 1990s. He then worked as a skilled journalist in several newspapers and media outlets, including the Al-Jumhuriya newspaper, in which he continued to write while a student at Taiz University between 1991 and 1994 AD, and in the late 1990s he was appointed by the Hayel Saeed Anam group as the editor-in-chief of “The Problem” magazine published by the Association to deal with the misdeeds of Qat in Taiz. This magazine was printed at the expense of the Hayel Saeed group and distributed to all schools, institutions and government agencies.
His fellow journalist Abdulqawi Shaalan holds a bachelor’s degree in “biological chemistry” from the Faculty of Science of Sanaa University, Taiz branch. It also holds:

In 2010, he won the Washington-based International Center of Journalists Award for his report (Harassment of Working Arab Women…Silence in the Circle of Accusation), with the participation of more than 38 Arab journalists, both men and women.
Throughout his journalistic experience of more than three decades, his colleague Shaalan has accomplished numerous journalistic works and held numerous positions, including:
* Journalist for several local newspapers (Al-Balagh, Al-Rased, Al-Jumhuriya, the Naba News site and the Arab Journalist site, and he worked in the investigative department of Family and Development magazine, Yemen Times, Al-Jumhuriya, Human Supplement and Al-Souq).
Between 2004 and 2010 AD, he was detained and arrested by security authorities based on published cases. The first took place at the Taiz West Prosecutor’s Office following the publication of a report on juvenile prisons on the Naba News website in 2007, and the second took place during coverage of the launch event of the Justice and Change Movement in 2008, and the third took place in the building of the Faculty of Science of Taiz University, while covering a sit-in by students of the Faculty of Science to demand the supply of laboratory tools, in 2008. The fourth in 2008 at the headquarters of the Taiz governorate, when a father was photographed offering his child for sale, after being unable to pay hospitalization fees at Al-Suwaidi Children’s Hospital, and the fifth was detention in the political security building and interrogation with me against the backdrop of the publication of a news story on the Naba Nabouz website.
* During the period of the Arab Spring events, our colleague Shaalan worked with Al-Awli and Al-Share newspapers to cover the events in Taiz, in addition to his work as a photographer for Agence France-Presse for a short period, then as a photographer and freelancer for several foreign satellite channels from 2011 to 2013.
* He established the Mayadeen News Network, which operated between 2013 and 2015 AD and stopped at the start of the war.
* Editor-in-chief of the Al-Hadath Press website for three years from 2016 to 2019 AD
* Correspondent of the Yemeni News website and platform broadcast from Cairo during the period 2016-2018 AD
* Correspondent for the Emirati site Arm News for several months, as well as for the Al Ain News site in 2019
* Broadcaster on Al-Ataa Educational Radio (player), Hasad Al-Youm newsletter, in addition to my work as a field correspondent in 2020 – 2022 AD.
* Correspondent of the Arabia Felix agency in Cairo for a few months in 2022 AD
During his journalistic field work in different periods, his colleague Shaalan worked as a media manager for a number of civil society organizations, in addition to his work as a content creator on the Yemeni Event platform.
